A, Somewhat, Fresh Take on the Psychological Thriller
When I first watched Would You Rather, directed by David Guy Levy, I expected another run-of-the-mill horror film. Instead, I found myself engrossed in a movie that stood out from its peers by focusing on a deadly game of choices. This wasn’t just about the physical horror of the situation but the psychological and moral dilemmas it presented.
The game, led by the chilling Shepard Lambrick (Jeffrey Combs), turned out to be slightly less about gore and more about the internal torment of its participants. This focus on the psychological aspects over the physical is precisely what elevated Would You Rather in my eyes.
To be honest, this is a movie like Saw. So if you love the Saw series, this is up your alley!

Decent Performances Elevate the Narrative
Brittany Snow’s portrayal of Iris struck a chord with me. Her performance captured the depth of desperation of someone willing to do anything for a loved one. It was this emotional grounding that made the movie so compelling for me.
