There’s a new horror movie coming that certainly looks promising!
IFC Films’ most recent movie, In a Violent Nature, has already made a significant impact, boasting an impressive 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Critics are raving about director Chris Nash’s bold approach, which brings a fresh twist to the horror genre.
The film has received praise for its daring directorial choices. Meagan Navarro from Bloody Disgusting said it’s “A fascinating arthouse horror experiment that plays more like a minimalist slice-of-life feature with a grim, gory twist.”
Not every critic was entirely on board, though. David Ehrlich from IndieWire provided a more critical take:
“Told from its killer’s point of view (except when it’s not), this anemic but formally compelling genre exercise strips the whole madman in a mask routine down to its skeleton.”
I’m really interested in how the movie explores the slasher genre from the antagonist’s perspective. This is an innovative narrative shift that can add a psychological dimension, allowing you to engage with the genre in an unprecedented way.

Set against the haunting backdrop of a collapsed fire tower in the woods, In a Violent Nature tells the story of Johnny, a spirit restless due to a crime committed six decades ago. When a group of vacationing teenagers stumbles upon Johnny’s locket, they unwittingly awaken his vengeful spirit. What follows is a relentless pursuit, as Johnny seeks to reclaim his stolen item, unleashing terror and bloodshed. This tale of resurrection and revenge adds a gripping twist to the slasher genre.
